According to my calendar, there are just 9 days left to finish us your Christmas shopping. Hopefully you are almost done. Usually by this time those early shoppers, which I am not one of, have the majority of their larger gifts purchased. The task now is finding all those smaller gifts that always are needed.
I’d like to recommend a store today that can probably fill many of those empty gift slots you may have yet to fill. Nicki Leighis one of those nice and comfortable stores where their products, which primarily fall into the Bath & Beauty category, don’t require the shopper having to figure out what someone would like. There isn’t anything in Nicole’s, Nicki Leigh’s store owner, store that wouldn’t be appreciated.
From soaps to lip balms there is something you will like. There are too many different scents to go into here but I’m sure there is one that will catch your fancy. Pricing is always a big factor these days so I’m sure shoppers will be glad to hear that I didn’t see anything in the store over $10.00.

A quick look at the picture above provides the reader with a very small sample of what I’m saying. I’ve seen handbags made out of many different things but I can’t remember ever seeing them made from a book and done so nicely to boot. If you have a pet and particularly a dog, today’s post is especially for you. Many dog owners consider their dog more than just a pet. Many, myself included consider our dogs as part of the family. Well, when it comes to Christmas, we never want to leave any family member out when it’s time to open the presents.
This year, consider visiting Maddies Closetfor that perfect gift for that four leg member of the family. Designer collars and leashes are Valerie’s, Maddies Closet’s owners’ forte. Now I know that Fido would probably rather get a big T bone steak but I think you will find a new collar or leash a little more practical and considering the price of meat these days, very probably less expensive.
In all seriousness, Valerie has a very nice selection of collars and leashes to select from plus a selection of sizes to accommodate your needs. I guess I should say your dogs’ needs. I’m not sure how much your friend will care about the patterns and colors on Valerie’s collars but I’m sure shoppers will appreciate all the colors and patterns to select from.
All the collars I saw in Valerie’s store appear to have good size leash connection rings which makes it easier for attaching the leash and the collars appear extremely well made and sturdy. Add to all this a very reasonable price and any item the shopper selects will certainly be appreciated. At least by the shopper. You will have to ask you furry friend for their opinion.

At some time in all our lives, we need a tote bag. They come in so handy for carrying all sorts of things. Even your lunch if you are a big eater. Since we all use tote bags, we might as well use ones that are eco-friendly. As Trista the owner of Proletariat Bags says in her store announcement. “Proletariat is about reclaiming artisanal skills in a mass produced world. Being able to be eco-conscious and stylish at the same time can present problems at time but not if you are carrying one of Trista’s tote bags. Granted, I can’t say I’ve ever seen anyone take a tote bag to the opera but at Proletariat Bags, you can certainly find one that will work for most any other occasion. With a variety of colors and sizes to choose from, shoppers will be able to probably find at least one bag that will fit their needs.
As can be seen from the sample product picture above, these bags will provide the user a stylish contemporary accessory, if you can call a tote bag an accessory, for multiple uses. Considering what I’ve seen come out of tote bags over the years, the words “multiple uses” probably should be capitalized.

Every now and then we run across an article that we think our readers would appreciate reading. With the holiday season upon us and the fact that almost everyone is trying to stretch those shopping and holiday spending dollars more than ever, we wanted to pass on an article that has some useful ideas that we all can make use of. We want to thank Crunchy Crafts for permission to reprint this article.
Cutting down on holiday spending does not mean you have to cut down on the fun. You can plan an affordable holiday and keep it fun with these tips.
1-First you must create a budget. Figure out how much you can afford, go through your checkbook, look at the bills due around and after Christmas, and consider any December birthdays (we have 3). Now that you know how much you can afford you need to figure out how its going to be spent (presents, decorations,food, etc.)
2-Make a list. If you make a gift list you can save a bundle. Your wont have any last minuet scurrying and you wont waste time when you shop. You can make a spending limit for each person if you wish and dont stray from the list (unless you have to).
3-Handmade for the holidays can save you a bundle as well. It can also make gift giving more meaningful and but tons more fun.
4-Start early, this is a hard one but the earlier you start the better. You will have more time to find the really deals and you will feel less pressure.
5- Don't shop for yourself. Seeing those deals can get you excited about something you may have had your eye on. However it will hurt you more in the long run.
6- Save on cards. If you must send Christmas cards (and I must) you can be smarter about it. You can make your own and add special touches, turn last years cards into post cards, send e-cards, or buy your cards a year ahead when they are on clearance.
7- Don't buy gift wrap. This is a big one for me because I hate gift wrap. I dont like the idea that you wrap a present in paper rip it off and throw it out. Think of all the work that went into that paper and the years and years it took for that tree to grow. Instead you can use newspaper, paper bags, your child's artwork, Thrift stores many times have a ton of wall paper sift through it and find some you like and use that.
8- Make your decorations. The Internet is a wonderful source of ideas. Just do a search and you will be surprised by what you find.
9-Christmas Music. Everyone has their favorite Christmas songs. Instead of buying a bunch of Cd's burn them (legally of course) and enjoy only your faves.
10- Limit the lights. Don't keep your Christmas tree and decoration lights on all day and night. Limit the time they are on to a few hours at most. This will save you on your electricity bill and the environment will love you for it too. Also LED lights are a wonderful way to save some money as are fiber optic lights both last a while and fiber optic usually only have 1 bulb. When you do have your Christmas tree lights on turn off the rest of the lights. You will have plenty of light and it will look even better.
I hope these tips help you have an affordable and wonderful holiday season. And please remember whatever you wrap with make it recyclable and recycled it.
